For Sale: one Gateway MX6450 notebook computer.
In very good condition. Works great (except the battery, noted below).
Complete: Notebook computer, AC charger / adapter, original documentation, in original shipping box.
The machine is all original.
AMD Turion 64 (ML-37) processor; 2.0 GHz.
1 GB RAM (512 MB x 2).
100 GB hard drive.
ATI Mobility Radeon X300.
Video memory: up to 64 MB, shared.
Modem (RJ11); LAN (RJ45); wireless 802.11g.
DVD +/- RW.
AC charger / adapter.
(I think I replaced the keyboard once.)
The battery is original and has failed. It will not hold a charge. The computer works just fine when using the AC charger / adapter.
The computer is configured for dual boot operation.
One partition is the original Windows XP Media Edition, version 2002, SP3.
The other partition is Ubuntu version 10.10 (Maverick Meerkat).
The Ubuntu partition was installed to support a seismic research project.
Installed software (on the Ubuntu partition includes:
FFTW (Fastest Fourier Transform in the West);
GMT (Generic Mapping Tool);
SAC (Seismic Analysis Code);
and more.
The one outstanding feature (in my opinion) of this computer is the display. It's so clear, sharp, and bright. It also has a very wide viewing angle range.
The display looks better than many laptops I see nowadays (Apple Macbook Pro being one exception).
Purchased in May 2007 for $ 579.99 (as if that matters).
I am asking US$ 50.00 plus shipping.
All offers will be considered.
If you want to compute the shipping cost ...
The box is 17 x 13 x 6 inches and weighs about 9 pounds.
The 'ship-from' zip code is 03824.
Let me know if there are any questions. I will respond as quickly as I can. Mike.
