MIPS ARCSystem Magnum 4000PC-50 LSI Logic L1A7385 Prototype

Alright, I tried a couple of things:

* Installed a 3Com Etherlink-III in the machine
* Downloaded a file of 20MB of random noise from one machine through the 3com interface (to a RAM disk)
* md5sum comparison between the files

* Installed a transceiver on the built-in SONIC ethernet
* Downloaded a file of 20MB of random noise from one machine through the SONIC interface (to a RAM disk)
* md5sum comparison between the files

I ran these tests multiple times and each time the file was fine, so at least there doesn't appear to be a generalized "DMA controller is bust" problem.

Well, after a disastrous attempt at repair by me I eventually sent the board out to a professional repair place. Got the SCSI controller socketed and replaced by a new model and it appears to have solved the issue.

The DMA controller gets really hot when doing a SCSI stress test, but perhaps that is normal. I do not have a reference for that! To make sure I don't accidentally cook something else I'll be installing a heatsink on the dma controller.

Hey, I have what i believe is an identical primary cache only prototype magnum. I bought it at a university surplus sale over 20 years ago.

The last time i tried to stand it up i also maxed out the RAM and had issues, and only after putting it back in storage recalled that they have to be clocked down a bit if the memory is maxed out.

I have experience cross-compiling but i'm pretty rusty because it's also been over 20 years since i was in that line of work. Former Lineo employee.

I would very much appreciate some pointers on how to get started building software for this thing. I understand that a few years back some people figured out how to emulate them in qemu and there were OS builds at the time but i have been unable to reach anyone who was involved in that.
