So, being it's almost Halloween, I'm feeling my Frankenstein...

Could this actually be successfully installed on the Tandy?

Intel BOXPODP5V83SU014 Pentium OverDrive Processor 83Mhz

Anyone ever try this?

I will have to find a labcoat to wear when I throw the switch!

I think you're out-of-luck with this particular Tandy system. Unless the ODP you mention is some sort of variant that can clip-over and disable a QFP 386, I'm not seeing how this would work at all.

I think the Pentium Overdrives were only for 486->Pentium upgrades.

At any rate, there are two types of Pentium OverDrive chips, ODP chips and ODR chips. Based on Cloudschatze's reply, I'm guessing it is the ODR chips that don't require you to disable the main processor first. With the ODP chips, you usually had to set a jumper or pull the main processor before the OverDrive would function.

So if you can find a ODR OverDrive chip, it would likely be a 486 OD, which might work. Or it might burst into smoke and kill your system.

What was I thinking, eh? For a moment it was brilliant.
I was thinking that since my main 386 box's mobo could also take a 486/Cyrix/Etc chip, that maybe the Tandy could too.
Don't wanna touch the 386DX-40 though, she's a smoking example of a 386.

Thanks for the input!
