Heathkit H27 Docs

Does anyone have any info/docs on the H27 disk drive?

I was messing with my H11A today and got the main system working fine but when I try to boot from the drive the computer kicks back 165644 and drops me back into the monitor (@ prompt instead of the $ prompt.)

I’m pretty sure the issue is with the drives but I don’t have any of the H27 docs, only H11 stuff.

Any help would be appreciated.

Erik,

Is this consistent? Every time you try to boot you get the same result?

Any retry sounds? Does the diskette boot up correctly in anything else?

Does the system work with another drive unit?

I can't be sure, but, if I had infinitely reproducible symptom, I might look for a bad buffer or a bad memory chip.

It is consistent. The drive never makes any noise (other than the fan and spindle motor.)

I don't think I have another viable unit to test with.

If/when I get a chance I'm going to see if I can do some diagnostics on the disk controller under the drives. I may also swap the drive cables to see if that might be the problem.

Unfortunately I'm a bit buried under other projects today, but we'll see.
