I just disambled a 486 there was a 1.2 MB 5.25 drive in, i guess this will not work in my PC XT?

Does the 1.2 MB floppydrives only support 1.2 MB floppies.

If you have the later XT BIOS, it will work. The early BIOS doesn't support double-stepping, so the drive won't be able to read 360k disks.

You can also use a loadable driver to handle the double-stepping. It's not a hard job. That being said, I wouldn't use a 1.2MB drive to handle 5.25" diskettes. There are too many compatibility issues with real 360K drives.

Well i actually do not plan to use it i have not any 5.25 floppies. Maybe if someone lives in Sweden near Linköping and need one i can change it for a soundcard.
Or something else if anyone interested hola.
