Stacking C64 chips

Seems like I remember a mod used back when I was a kid where you could stack 2 SID chips to create a stereo output. I am curious, what would be the result if ram chips or 6510's were stacked?

RAM chips seem to be stackable in order to add more memory, given that you have the correct addressing. For example some people have piggy-backed extra RAM inside the VIC-20 to add an internal, non-standard memory expansion. The C64 may be harder to do that on since its memory map is already fully populated.

I don't think it is useful to stack CPUs on top of each other.
 
Yes, if the computer design allows for RAM expansion, you could stack the chips and solder all the legs of the top chip to the bottom chip except for the chip select. On that pin you would straighten it out as in a sort of nazi salute, and solder a jumper from it to the proper address select logic.
