Hi,

Does anyone know what tape drive manufacturers used Ametek DC motors?

These motors are supposed to be pretty good generators for wind turbines and I want to build one.

Thanks,

Susan.

I saw a TV program in the seventies about creating an autonomous house, in that series they used a 24volt alternator from a bus for their wind turbine, which I would have thought would be more powerful than a tape drive motor.

wow, it seems to be so creative to invent that tool!

It also seems to me that a fair number of vacuum cleaners use/used Ametek motors. Given that a wind turbine lives out of doors, I'd be concerned about the long-term survival of a tape drive low-duty cycle motor that was designed to spend its life in temperature-controlled "clean" environment.

Also, I would hate to destroy a vintage reel-to-reel tape drive. You just don't see them everyday.

I kinda thought that might have been the case. But, being the helpful type I guess I was overwhelmed. :) Sorry. I'll be more careful next time.
