Hi All,

After having been collecting since '82 when the IBMPC made other systems affordable it's time to reduce the herd to help pay for a move.

We would probably prefer having interested buyers locally onsite to avoid having to pack and ship these quite heavy units. Have any of you folks done a local auction type event (blind bid?) and have suggestions on how best to set it up?

We are located in the Raleigh, NC area.

This seems to be most of the larger systems with peripherals. I never tried to get them all, just some of the ones I liked.

These are a lot heavier than I remembered!

Still seem to have lot's of stuff piled up in here that has to go as well.

Regards,

--Bill

The first step is an inventory, then smoke test everything. The smaller stuff (Atari, Apple ][c, C64) I would ship. Local auctions, blind bids would probably bring low bids from people looking to resell on Ebay.

Hi Bill!

I also live in the Raleigh area! I'd love to stop by to see some of the stuff you are selling. I'll send you a PM to discuss with you.

Thanks!

Heather

Wow, that is a nice collection you have there.
I really wish I lived in the US to maybe come and have a look.
I am guessing you would not be interested in shipping a few of them in a bundle so I can save on cost if I happened to want anything?
Anyway, nice collection!

Do you have any CPU's for sale? Looking for Cyrix and AMD K5 stuff as my collection is low on that.

Hi,

We do a lot of business on eBay and shipping the larger systems will be very expensive since some are so heavy. Just for instance, shipping from Raleigh to the West coast of say one of those H89 system would be close to $100 after USPS packaging fees/Ins/etc.

If some do not sell locally we do plan on offering them on eBay but for overseas we would have to discuss this prior to the sale with the prospective buyer.

Regards,

--Bill

Ah, sorry. I'm used to working with collectors and normally only need a glimpse of a system to recognize it.

We are working on a detailed list of systems available but it's not ready yet.

That Heathkit H-8 with the Dual diskdrives WH-17 and H19 Terminal have me drooling. But shipping and the cost of the system would probably be more than I can afford!

Hi All,

I think I should re-state that this is for a local to Raleigh, NC sale. I was not intent on posting a 'for sale' ad, just looking for ideas on how best to handle the local sale. If it comes to having to shipping, we will just list on eBay, but for now we want to give the locals a chance and avoid having to ship systems that could easily be damaged.

Some systems have local to Raleigh significance such as the original Capitol OPUS BBS that was run by Bill Weinel (Sysop). It was a major system during this historic era and deserves to be preserved. It's a home brew S-100 system with four 8" floppy drives. Very interesting setup and I've tried contacting him to donate it back for safe keeping but so far he does not answer. Perhaps he no longer shares our interest, I'm not sure.

Anyway, just looking for ideas from people that may have done this before. We looked into a professional auctioneer via Proxibid but that turned out much to costly.

Any ideas are welcome.

Regards,

--Bill

I am willing to drive out there to pickup some items, very interested in the homebrew system can you provide more info or photos on that item?

sdinet,

I'm still pursuing the original owner of that system and at this time it is not for sale. If the original owner does not want it then I'll put it on the forsale list.

Are you local to the Raleigh, NC area?

Regards,

--Bill

The TRS-80 Model III/4 units could be categorized pretty quickly. Model number on the bottom, badges on the front.
Don't see it, but is there any Tandy 6000 stuff in there?

Due to popular requests here are more photos of the unpacking (in progress still).

great collection bill. i think you should probably post a list of systems (including details of cards, configurations) along with what you think are fair prices for local pickup.

i collect Heath stuff and could make a run south from Virginia for the right system(s) at the right price.

thanks for offering this here first.
