From what I have found in the past is that it is usually the 74C04's that act up. In 2 different Model I's I repaired.

Hi Frank, you are right and maybe I could have been clearer, but I don't script these videos, I just start recording and wing it...

Most of the time it will be either Z6 or Z57, but occasionally, like happened to me a few years ago, I replaced both and the problem was still present. A bit of head scratching while I worked out the relationship between Z6/Z57 and Z5 reveals you can get the same sort of sync problem as a failed Z6 or Z57 when Z5 goes bad.

Rather than profess an absolute "If horizontal sync is gone replace Z6 and if vertical sync is gone replace Z57" it's better to not imply they may be the only causes.

Oh and I have seen Z5 the 74C00 go out also so it's hit or miss with those chips.
