http://ave13co.com is a FREE auctionsite dedicated to vintage technology including(but not limited to) computers, software, calculators and sliderules.
There are categries for Amiga to Zenith and a place to suggest new cats.
Unlike a well known website we all know,ave13co.com is FREE. Free to sell and free to buy.
You must register and follow the rules but the rest is FREE.

What's the catch? (apart from registerning).

Whats the catch???

Whats the catch???

There is no catch. Ave13co.com is a FREE auctionsite. I have been selling at the other big auctionhouse we all know about for over 6 years and I am tired of paying them. If I can get enough traffic to warrant my paying for the host, developing the website and sell my items,it will end up costing me much less $$$ and be worth my while to allow everyone else to sell for free.

Right now ave13co is in a state of being moved from one host to another.

We were just moved to the current host but as it turned out, this server's IP Address is blackballed from half of the internet. It used to be a spammers IP Address and so I am not able to send or get any email.

I just did change DNS numbers so it wont be long and this FREE auctionsite will be available again.Usually about 3 days.

No catch at all. Ave13co.com is a FREE auctionsite for vintage technology.

Well it sounds all very good & all, unfortunately, whenever
the word "FREE" is used I get the feeling there's a catch
to the service. Sometimes it can be in the form of spamming
which has been driving me up the wall (since I don't know
how they get my e-mail) & the content of these e-mails is
enough to drive anyone sick. As funny as it sounds you have
an ex-spammers IP address, so I hope you will be true to
your word.

I "HAD" an exspammers IP Address for a total of 3 days. Also the spammer in question with that old IP Address is not me and I can proove it.

If you dont want to use the auction, then dont. I have nothing to loose by your not being a part of the ave13co community.

On the other hand, if you want a place to sell and buy for free, then you are welcome.

Relax mate, I wasn't saying that you were a
spammer, I was just saying your service would
be great as long as there's no hidden secrets.

Well, hopefully I'll find something useful there,
is the action open for Australians?

English speaking only

English speaking only

The script is not sophisticated enough to support languages other than English and neither am I.
So...as far as I am concerned..anybody that can read and write english can use it..

When the site is up and going again, I will be submitting to search engines and doing my META TAGS.
Hopefully I can drum up enough traffic so you and I will be able to keep some of those dollars at home for soup and eggs.

Be sure to use Google, that's a good one! ;-)

Erik might be able to help in this field too since he
has had to think of areas which are good for
advertising his site, however I know he uses the
approrate newsgroups for plugging sites.

Be sure to select your top two or three search terms and put them in your tags as well as liberally in your text.

There are any number of SEO tutorials out there that can really help you improve your rankings (I like http://www.selfpromotion.com/ but there are tons more.) Also make sure to check competetive sites at www.marketleap.com using their free Search Engine Marketing Tools.

Link exchanges, such as you've already started, are a really good way to go. Don't forget to get some posts up on usenet to both advertise your service and archive some links to it.

Good luck!

Erik
