have a problem.. every time I try to start my computer and log on to it, I only see my wallpaper nothing more. can't write explorer.exe in run becouse it does not work. and many other programs can't start when I try..
so plz help me..

if u mean windows.. I have the oldest.. I think atleast the one that is on the windows cd

more info:

cpu, ram, hdd
oldest windows you could have if it came on cd is win95

when starting the computer up it will say what cpu and ram it has
on most computers.

when windows is booting up it should say what version it is
try booting in safe mode if you have win95 hit f8 and bunch of times
after the keyboard lights blink, If you see the windows boot screen
you are too far and missed your chance want for all disk activity to stop
and ctl+alt+del. if you did it right you will go to a screen with a menu
select "safe mode" this also works on other windows but there is a easier
was to get to it if you have win98 you can hold ctrl down

if it still does not boot into safe mode then you need to start thinking
about how to backup your data and restore the os

if it does boot into "safe mode" you have a chance to fix the problem.

most times it is hardwar conflict or driver unless you got a virus or corupt/missing files.... good luck!

have 512 ddr ram
cpu: 2.88 Intel prescott
and one 200 gb hd from seagate barracuda

what is the last thing you did? install a new driver? install new software?
turn your computer off without shutting down? do you have a firewall and antivirus (up to date)?

i almost never use winxp however it's very close to win2k in most respects
hitting F8 will get you to the menu (i think) try safe mode if that does not
work then go back to the menu and try "last known good configuration"
2k,xp is pretty good about protecting it's files but you could have a screwed
up registry.

it's maze and mess to try and fix the registry, there is suppost to be
programs that will fix them but i keep backups every few days
if theres a problem i restore or start over after backing up my files.

are you getting past the login screen?
if you are then ctrl+alt+del and the task manager will come up
click the processes tab and look for explorer.exe if it's not on there
click file and "new task" (run) and a browse box will show up
goto your C: drive and look for the "WINDOWS" folder go into that
and look for "explorer.exe" and select it then hit run/open and see what happens
you should see your desktop. the best thing to do (unless you have a backup)
is to get all your files off of drive C: ether burn them or if you have more then
one drive or partition you can move them on to D:, E: or what ever
you just need to make sure drive C: is clear before you format it.
take your time and make sure you backup everything you want including
your bookmarks/favorites.
If your desktop never came up then you have a few options.
1. reinstall xp on drive C: and use it to startup and move your files
2. get a dos or linux boot disk, if you choose dos you'll need to get a program
to read NTFS file system.
3. take the drive out and put it in another computer and transfer the files
then put it backin your computer and format / reinstall
4. kidnap bill gates and make him fix his crap #*$% O.S, after failing to do so you toss your winxp cd in the trash and install linux.

thank u for the help.. have fixed the problem.
I needed to reinstall my windows.. I do not yet know the source of this problem but I hope it wont happen again.. thx for the help anyway

And here I was getting all excited because I thought we were talking about a Netronics Explorer... Never mind.
