I am thinking of the AMD Am486 and Energy Star right now

The original one had no APM or SMI support. (Of course, the "Am486Plus" chip fixed this, but I am talking about before that)

    Ceramic package and gold standard

Thinking about it, the move from ceramic (gold) DRAM packaging to plastic happened right as US DRAM was declining in favour of the Japanese. It would be funny if you had to pay for chips in volume using gold, and this gold was used to package the chips. I wonder what the Federal Reserve would...

    William's Homemade Computer

If you make PCs and you’re not Lenovo, you might be in trouble

An article from Ars Technica: http://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2013/04/if-you-make-pcs-and-youre-not-lenovo-you-might-be-in-trouble/ Personally, I think it is funny they ended up taking the lead again after IBM sold the PC division to Lenovo. Of course, the original IBM PC is more...

Why Intel did not release 386SX until 1988?

Do anyone know why Intel did not release the 386SX until 1988, given the 286's problems? AFAIK that was after OS/2 1.0 was released that was designed for the 286.
