Looking for Periscope debugger software, version 2.1 or earlier

I already uploaded it to Vetusware at that time as well — so you'll get it from there. If the one you've downloaded is the only one to be found there — then it's the version uploaded by me, I don't have any other version of Periscope, sorry. Personally I use the new version of debug — LDebug...

How were business apps done in BASIC?

If you mean that BASIC/Pascal like languages, then the better idea may be to get the more „modern” versions of them, like Power BASIC 3.50 (the last version for DOS), or Unicomal 3.11. But I still recommend Forth — modern Forth for DOS, like DX Forth, for example.

How were business apps done in BASIC?

No HL language was as efficient on resource-constrained systems as Forth was (and still is). Add to that OOP that Forth (almost) always had (CREATE..DOES) — even, when the term itself wasn't even coined, and its „virtual memory” ability thank to Forth's „block system”.

    LDebug — „debug de Luxe”!

Not quite — Debugx may have „resident” feature set pretty similar, but LDebug gained recently a whole lot of extensions in form of *.ELD files. Just try it!

Zilog Z80 homebrew computer rs232 problem

How do you think: why Hitachi has two lines of its HD64180 — one for Motorola peripherals and the other one for Zilog family? Because they wanted to raise their manufacturing costs? ;) Honestly, although probably that chip can be „raped” to work in your SBC somehow, still the better idea would...

    Programming Altair confusion

If you're goint to be strict about this: actually that name comes from Arabian, so it shouldn't be pronounced „English way”. Rather like „Al-tah-eer” (like Al Bundy, silent „h”).

Has anyone here played with any of the RISC-V micros?

I like „open sourced” solutions, but it's not decisive criterion. Have a look at this paper: https://gist.github.com/erincandescent/8a10eeeea1918ee4f9d9982f7618ef68 …and at discussion: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=24958423
