I know many doubt that IBM ever actually sold a single 5150-001 (16Kb, no floppy, cassette only, TV out), it makes me wonder whether the face plates that presumably covered the empty drive bays were ever available as an off the shelf part. Has anyone actually seen them or have a picture?

Thanks.

a while back there was a project to get some reproduction covers made - I think it ended up being too expensive.

They were blank. We have just one in our museum.

BTW, they didn't just come with the Cassette only model. (Never available in EMEA.) All diskette equipped PCs came from the factory one drive installed and a blanking plate.

Yep, my twin drive 5150 even came with two blanking plates - and it's a 1987 model. Not sure if they shipped with it new, but I always suspected so.
