Hi all. If you live in one of the New England states, I invite you to join our group, New England Vintage Computers. We post our vintage computers for sale, cross post good deals in one of our states, make connections and exchange information. Ultimately I hope to set up a regional meetup of retro computer fans.

You must live in New England to get approved.

Hi there, I actually live in the UK but travel to New England (NewburyPort to be precise) a couple of times a year to spend time with family. If you have a physical presence in New England and are within easy access of Newbury I’d be interested to see if you have anything CBM PET-related?

It's just a Facebook social group. I'm a part of it too. Most of the members are collectors or doing stuff as a hobby individually at their houses across New England, or going to/selling at periodic swap meets and things like that We had an unofficial meetup at a local library in January, we'll have another one in a couple months. There is no building owned by the group or anything along those lines. 🙂

Oh, I see. I don’t do Facebook but when I get out to Massachusetts in the Summer I may give you a call on this forum to see if there is one of your groups get-together that I could come to?

Yes certainly. You're welcome to come if we have a meetup at that time! There's no date set yet, but I think the next one will be in May.

You may also like to check out the MIT Swapfest, which takes place on the third Sunday of each month (except for winter time when it doesn't meet) at the school, Massachusetts Institute of Technology. It's not solely computers, there's old radios and other old tech people like, but I've heard that generally there are a lot of people selling old computers, and people milling about that are interested in them. Though it's a buy/sell focused event so I don't know how much mingling and conversation there is. Here's a description of it from 2024, but it meets monthly every year. https://calendar.mit.edu/event/swapfest-the-flea-at-mit-2024

You could have a meetup at the Rhode Island Computer Museum in North Kingstown. A warehouse tour would be interesting.
Yeah sounds good. This is mostly an unorganized group, there's no president or board or governance documents or regular meetings, so it's simply up to whoever wants to periodically propose and organize something, to make arrangements and follow it through. If you have the interest and energy to arrange a meetup like that with the museum and publish it in the group, I'm sure you'll have people show up!
