Anyone own one in their collection. I have one from when I was younger. Still runs... I am on the hunt for any software and or disks. I have been able to rip the OS and created fresh blank media. As from what I've learned this machine used a special formatted disk by Canon. The disks will have unique labels with "X-8309" on the disks. If you have any I'd love to archive them and create a clean boot disk others can use to boot their system. I'll be at the Vintage Computer Festival Midwest with my Canon CX-1 showing it in operation. So if anyone wants to see a old yellowed computer from the earlier 80s! haha I'll have it there!

Hi Ron, I´ve seen a photo from the VCF Midwest of a CX-1 with a Game running on it. Was that yours ? I also own a CX-1 and i am looking for any software for it. What kind of software do you already have ?
I have only a bootdisk with some simple test utilitys and a Disk with a software for a dental technology company. I can send them as a teledisk image if you want...the issue is that my disks are for German Language and have "Umlauts" for a german keyboard variation.

It was mine. if you can send the disk images that would be cool. Mine is lacking a lot of the tools. I'm trying to locate the originals for the device in my dads office. but with numerous boxes to go though that's time consuming. I have a blank disk image created to remake more floppies. we should swap.. mine had stuff my dad and uncle wrote back in the 80s for accounts and payroll stuff. I did simple programs like the slot machine that it ran at VCFMW. my email is ron.coon.jr@gmail.com if you want to share. And with my skill set we can make a solid boot disk for archival purposes... since Canon no longer has any material or software in their vaults.

G'day from Australia,
I have just aquired a Canon CX-1, without software condition unknown.

I have sent a PM to ron.coon.jr as well.

Do you have any documentation, Schematics and software you could share.

Thanks
Paul O'Connor

I was able to write and boot the disks. With your disks with surprising the newer than what I had OS.. I can make a near close to original boot disk from my memory and notes I've made. I'll get these made I was able to get it in English by removing the German from the start.com file. I'm happy to see the VED I used that when I was in my teens! memories.. but with this we can make this image available to everyone with all the tools that are referenced in the manual! Was recommended by a friend Timmy who has one too I helped save his with a boot disk... we can and should make a website and feel out for others with these systems as they are extremely rare in my path. I've been good at archiving everything to my cloud. I'm working on the X-8330 8" floppy disk images in my spare time. But feelers for more software preferable word processing was out there... And I know if my dad and uncle can find the disks they had we had accounting software for it written in Cobol ( which is how I learned cobol!)
