I just unearthed an NEC ProSpeed 286 laptop (or rather "portable" :) ) which by all accounts is in perfect working order.

For the life of me I cant figure out how to get output from the VGA port. There is a light above the keyboard labeled "CRT" which presumably would illuminate if/when its in use. Nothing in the BIOS in terms of a LCD/CRT selection. The system seems to support everything from mono to full color VGA (but of course it all comes out mono on the built in screen).

Any ideas would be very much appreciated.

Every laptop I've had has a key combo to toggle the external monitor, they've all been newer than that though. On my "modern" laptop it's Fn-F5
