According to this it will just lock up the computer but I wouldn't risk it. Check carefully!What happen if I connect the cables wrong? Will I burn the board ?
Be very careful when doing that since the pins on male IDC connectors are usually swapped side to side, i.e. the odd numbers connect to the even numbers and vice versa (think about it); if you do what you propose the pins are not reversed as they probably should be.
