On my Plessey DLV11J the line drivers ICs some UA9636 get rather hot as well as the DS0026 which is used to generate -12V are getting rather hot when I touch them. Is this normal?
I dont have the PLESSY DLV11-J but I do have the DEC DLV11-j. the DS0026 and UA9636 do not get hot. Only slight warming after hours of operation. The excessive heat is usually a symptom of the drivers being abused and drawing excessive current. The good news is both parts are still available (or exact replacement) if you still have -12V the DS0026 is probably OK.
Do the outputs work?
Thanks, I suppose the DLV11J brand is not important, as long as these are the same ICs they are probably used the same way. Yes all lines are working. But I will keep an eye on them and probably get some spare before they are no longer available. Just in case.
