This one sticks in my mind and I've always wondered about it. One day there was a message on the board saying the sysop went into the hospital. There were no other details given. After that message there were no more updates and no more messages from the sysop in any form. Activity slowly ramped down until there was me and maybe two others calling it with any frequency. I stopped calling that board after a few months of nothing going on and some time in the future (months if not a year) I checked it out and the board was still up. There were no new posts and no recent callers but the board soldiered on.
