Just wondering if Anyone could tell me how I put a Dreamweaver 8 project on the internet?

Its my first ever attempt at Website making and Desiging but I can't get it on the net. I have ColdFusion as my server and everything seems to be right I just need to know what my sites url is or how to find it out or change it. Anyone know? :p

JamesM ..

I moved your post to this area of the forum because it is kind of off-topic.

A wise N3RD'5 advice: Don't try to be 1337 at something your not.

Anywho, You have to buy a domain, or host a domain server. Try sites like http://www.godaddy.com/ or similar.

If you are using a free host, like Profusehost or similar, they usually provide you with a domain like "http://example.profusehost.net/". But if you pay for your web space, & unless you buy a package that comes with a domain, you have to buy one yourself.

Just to let you know, Sites generated in DreamWeaver are REALLY slow to load & look unprofessional. You should try learning HTML. Take Erik's site (This one) for example. Side some CSS, SSI, & maybe some JavaScript (Don't worry if you don't know what those are), it's done in Pure HTML. My site (In my signature) is pure HTML except for an Ad script my host automatically adds to any HTML request.

Also, remember, the front page of your site MUST be named "index.html" (With a lowercase "i")

For what it is worth, DreamWeaver is one of the best WYSIWYG webpage generators out there, both in terms of result and generated HTML code.

When it comes to the index document, that is completely up to the web server. It could be index.html, index.htm, index.asp, default.asp or just about anything - sometimes it is even user defineable.
