Recently I've made a second batch of my 2708/2704/(2716) programmer that came out four years ago. Still have a few kits left, so if you are interested in programming 2708 types of Eproms found on many early S100 boards.
The programmer kit comprises parts to build a 2704/2708 Eprom burner with these main features:
Can program 2708 and 2704 types of Eproms (four voltages supplied/generated)
Runs on single 5V supply (about 500mA) from USB or separate 5V (power supply not included)
Includes Windows programming software , connected via USB
Can also be programmed by a terminal program via USB or via RS232 (TTL)
Optional items:
Optional: RS232 to RS232C converter
Optional: 2716 Eprom adapter PCB for 21 and 25V type Eproms
(Software will support all mentioned Eprom variants)
Whilst the circuit board has a minimum of 2.54mm (0.1") component lead spacing, making soldering relatively easy, the kit is not a beginner’s kit, but thanks to the open PCB layout, the complexity of assembly is intermediate.
A Small Serial interface protocol allows to connect to any classic machine terminal monitor. This is provided in the onboard Flash memory. Baud rate and parity can be selected for a pure RS232 connection.
Both the serial adapter and the optional 2716 adapter PCB can be connected directly to the Prommer.
Getting the kit
To build the circuit board, as shown in the first picture, I ask for the printed circuit board and the component set 43 USD or 40 EUR (plus shipping cost from central Europe).
The kit plus optional 2716 PCB is 45 USD or 42 EUR. (includes only the 2716 PCB and schematics but no components)
You will need a Windows PC for the Windows programmer interface software or a terminal or a computer running a terminal emulation program, such as Tera Term, to communicate with the prommer.
Documentation
The documentation can be found at my GoogleCloud . Schematics, Software and an assembly guide (dowload link) will be provided in the kit.
Compatibility
The assembled kit will perfectly fit into a standard 60mm x 100mm plastic case, with openings for the socket and connectors. Within the kit are 4 plastic standoffs included to allow the programmer to be placed nicely onto a flat surface.
Notes
This product is supplied as a kit of parts that require assembly.
It is your responsibility to pay any import duty or taxes charged by your home country.
This product is designed for hobby use and is not suitable for industrial, commercial, or safety-critical applications.
Shipping cost to be determined based on your address and shipping preference.
