I have done this several times and had occasion to do it today with a $5.99 keyboard from a thrift shop that I want to use for an XT clone that I am working on. I thought I would pass it on in case you have not heard of this fix.
Seems like keyboards eventually lose one of their legs. This has happened to me numerous times. A tiny little knob breaks and no more elevated keyboard. I had not even noticed this keyboard was missing one as I was happy to find on with an AT/PS/2 connector. (yes, I know it will not work straight away with an XT - not the point).
Somewhere along the line, I picked up this little tip to get them back to their elevated stature.
Find a binder clip - like these - mind the size (you will see what I mean if you read on).
Separate the metal hooks from the clip (see where I am going?)
Cut a couple of small pieces of heat shrink tubing and coerce them onto the rings.
Shrink them.
Now fit them into the holes that the original keyboard legs occupied. Note that you can easily bend these to make them perfectly level and at the elevation that suits you. They are plenty sturdy.
They flip down when you don't want any elevation.
Works well for me. Try it some time.
