Looking for new people to build and test Gryphon Gen3 (Jackalope) prototype PCBs for the Gryphon 68030 home brew computer project. Will be ordering new Jackalope PCBs in the next two weeks. Looking for hobbyists of all skill levels for multiple hardware, software, debug & test, and other project support roles.

Current Gryphon 68030 development thread posted here

Original Gryphon project page and good overall description of the project

build notes from Gen2 (Gryphon/Xagdin) build and test. Board is working but flaky from multiple fixes. Xagdin was 2 layer PCB and Jackalope will be 4 layer PCB to improve DRAM stability and ground performance.

Goal of project is to get a complete stand-alone 68030 running Linux with future plans for a lot more DRAM, 68040 CPU, and IO improvements. There are two examples of 68K Linux running on similar 68030 home brew computers (KISS-68030 & Tobster's Yet-another-68030-computer)

If interested in joining Gryphon (Jackalope) build and test team please send me a PM. Post questions/comments in this thread.

PS, 3d rendering of Gryphon/Jackalope PCB

Hi
Still need one more person (at least) to get a board/build and test. If you've been looking to get involved in a home brew computer project or just like the 68K this is your opportunity. We need another person and they don't have to be experienced. Preferably someone good with software (Linux).

OK, we have accounted for all 5 of the prototype boards. An additional person would like to build the Gryphon/Jackalope too but the PCB house only sells in 5 board increments. So if more would like to join in we'd need to account for 4 more prototype boards. There is never enough people involved in build and test of prototype boards so if more would like to please PM me or post here. I'll keep a log and if we can bump up the initial order to 10 prototype PCBs, we'll do that so more people can participate.

The Jackalope PCBs are working their way through the trace route optimizer. I expect to make a PCB order this weekend.
