Hello everyone! I go by Drayson, my pronouns are they/them, and I have an obsession with electronics, vintage computers, and dragons.

I own a Commodore 64, a Commodore 1541 drive, and an IBM 5155 portable; all of which were sold not working but I fixed them; as well as a couple old computers and CRT displays rescued from an e-waste pile.

Hi Dryson, I also have an IBM 5155 and it has quite a problem so it cannot work properly. I bought it at a scrap dealer for cheap. I'm planning on getting rid of it now so if you're interested I can give it to you.

I like to use all the pronouns.. it makes me sound sane when I speak to people.

Welcome to the forum Drayson. 👋🍻
What was the issue with the 5155? Tantalum capacitors or bad power supply?

Welcome to VCF Drayson. I also own and C64 and 1541. And an IBM 5162, currently in need of repair but formerly working. I have to finish troubleshooting it.

I also have one of those Toshiba TV's

Nah, I'm not interested. Thanks though!

Thanks. It was a tantalum capacitor on the floppy drive, and that was it other than the hard drive being a bit janky.

Nice. Could you tell me what kind of remote works with the TV? Because it's stuck on RF input without it.

Nice. Im working on two 5155's now and have a couple threads on the repair. The first had shorted tantalums on the board, pretty typical.

Sorry, I think I had a senior moment. I went to look at my Toshiba TV and it turned out to be a SONY. I mis-rembered. My Toshiba is a flat panel LCD and it has buttons on the top that allow me to change the input, volume, etc. But I have always used Universal Remotes on these TV's. Just follow the programming instructions and keep entering codes until it gets recognized.
