Help identifying a mod made to a Commodore 128

I am attempting to resurrect a modded 128 that I acquired on the cheap (yes it is filthy to boot). See the picture attached.

Ignoring the normal bodge wire on the z80 from the factory, what is the other mod with wires going into the board near R27 in the middle, down by U37 at the bottom, etc.

These wires are attached to a switch, also pictured.

I have never seen this mod before anyone know what it is?

I don't see a U37. I do see a C37, but the red wire near there actually goes right by R27 and up to a connection point at the top of the board I can't see, possibly near one of the ports.

Well, surprisingly the machine works. I've flipped the mystery switch a couple times with no discernible effect.

I will take better pictures and see if Bil Herd has any ideas.
