I picked up my first 1040STF the other day and I've been tearing it down and cleaning and checking on caps. I've ordered a VGA adapter and Mouse adapter, but I'm still waiting for those to be delivered. During the teardown, I discovered some kind of mod on one of the TOS chips on the Revision D motherboard. The mod has some writing on it indicating that it's a mod from Zubair Interfaces possibly. The mod is pretty basic and it looks like it just has a crystal and battery and then an empty socket. The only chip on there has been sanded down so there is nothing to read. Is this some kind of RTC add-on?
