Be very careful about the power requirements, as most of the 1000's had PSUs with very low output.

Sounds like an XT/IDE is the answer on this one - might be worth a post in the wanted section.

The 1000SX's power supply is rated at 67 watts.

My original 1000 has no trouble with an ST-225 and all three ISA slots filled.

I have a similar setup in a 5150 with an ST-251. Sitting idle at DOS prompt it draws 102W at the wall...., so very close to, if not touching it's rated output (63W in that case).
