HP GSC VGA Accelerated proto board?

Guys...
What am i looking at?

This was in the C110 and i was cleaning it because it was filthy, that's when i realized there were odd pencil marks there and the "PROTO" tag on the heatsinked chip.
It seems to be non working either in my C110 and D220.
GSC boards are rare by themselves, but this...! Is it a prototype for real?
What do you think?

I think I have an A4071A CRX-24 in my B132L. I'll have to pull that box out when I get a chance and take a look at the video boards and see if they look similar or the same as what you have.

I just looked at my A4242-66001 REV A 3D ACCELERATOR daughter board. The 3 1821-0843 chips look the same as on your board. Mine have a date code of AAQX9629. The markings on the 1821-1890 matches the 1821-0843 chips on my board, nothing hand written. It has a date code of AAQM9629. My board has a barcode label where your board has an empty rectangle next to the U10 1821-0843 chip. I didn't remove the heat sink on my board.

OK, just removed the heat sink from the U1 5180-7321 REV A chip. The sticker on mine says:
HP 1FQ2-0001 6070
SINGAPORE 9621 #

So maybe your board is preproduction from a year earlier than mine.

A working production level A4242-66001 3D accelerator daughter board by itself is probably not too exciting. There are at least a couple on eBay right now for around $40.

I suppose a serious collector might be more interested if it is a prototype, buy maybe less so if the board is non-functional.

I think I paid around $50 locally at Boeing Surplus for my whole B132L with the CRX-24Z, but that was about 10 years ago.
