Ibm ps/1

That's a multifunction small component tester, I think you mean a TL866 or similar. Like this: https://www.amazon.se/DollaTek-universell-programmerare-TL866II-blixtprogrammerare/dp/B08HQBNDD1/
yes, you are of course correct! I pasted the wrong link. Indeed with the same order I bought this one https://www.amazon.se/gp/product/B07CDD9PGT/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (Laqiya TL866)
I also bought the correct EEPROMs on ebay should the original ones fail after writing, which they didn't.

Hi all, I have got a 2011 PS/1 (with 30 Mb hard disk drive still alive...) computer and I would like to bring it back as it was sold with the preloaded software in French! Does anyone have those?

Many thanks!!

Hello all,

I recently bought a PS/1 2011-M01, one of the older versions that came without a hard drive and with DOS on ROM. I replaced the CMOS battery, and am now stuck when it comes to running the CONFIGUR command.
The computer shows 161 and 163 errors on boot (which is to be expected since it's not configured)
Loading into the "OS" and entering a DOS prompt, gives me "Not ready reading Drive A" with the options "Abort, Retry, Fail?" where on selecting fail, it gives me a regular prompt with "Current drive is no longer valid" instead of a directory.
Trying to CD into D:\ gives me "invalid drive specification"

Trying to boot from a diskette using Alt+SysRq or holding down the two mouse buttons doesn't work.
When doing anything that would require reading the floppy disk, the computer freezes until restarted, the light for the drive lights up, and the drive makes a sound.

Any help with getting this working would be greatly appreciated, I am completely at a loss.

I have a PS/1 2121 and I am getting some strange errors on boot. When I use the monitor, it acts like it has no vertical deflection. Upon warming up, the monitor displays as monochrome only, however, the white color is a strange yellow. If I slap the monitor on the left side, sometimes I can get color to show. I am getting errors 8602 and 2401.

I have seen reddit posts of others experiencing this issue, just not sure yet what to fix (the monitor or the VGA circuitry).

I'd go with what modem7 suggested: bad or cracked solder joints in the monitor circuitry and/or the system mainboard. The effect changing as the unit warms up is a possible sign as heat causes expansion of the joints making poor connections start to work better... including the occasional slap.

I'd wonder if there's more going on though seeing all the errors on the display.
161 and 163 are typically the result of a dead CMOS battery (the 2121 uses a CR2032 battery located below the modem/serial card). 301 represents a keyboard fault and 8602 is a mouse fault. 2401 indicates a hard drive problem. And seeing as it has the original floppy drive that likely doesn't work either.

What’s crazy is i replaced the battery with a brand new CR2032, and im still getting a 163.

I’ll try and be on the search for bad solder joints. Thank you
