Hi there, I just got my first PS2/E and I am thinking about upgrading the machine. What would you suggest to buy ?
Here are my thoughts:
CPU:
I suggest upgrading/installing a 387 in the expansion slot
RAM:
The machine has 4MB, I will upgrade to 8 or 12MB (16MB is not a good idea because of the XGA on ISA bus)
HDD:
The machine has a noisy small harddrive. I will upgrade to a more silent solution (perhaps a 500MB CF card)
I will not go for a larger main drive, because I will make use of multiboot and that is no so handy when using ontrack/ezdrive.
PCMCIA:
This is an interesting thing! I am thinking about:
SCSI card for more external storage SCSI/ZIP/CDROM etc.
Lan, Network-Adapter (10Mbit) RJ45
Soundcard
What do you think about this. What do I have to consider when buying upgrades that are compatible?
I have zero experiences with pcmcia-stuff.
