All,

I was hoping to install a copy of one of these programs on my Windows 95 laptop, which I connect to the Internet using Dial-up networking (through a PABX to my own gateway, which routes all traffic through my broadband connection).

I have some old installs of these programs:

16/12/2009 11:31 16,919,440 install_icq65.exe

and

13/12/2006 10:13 433,192 msgr8us.exe
27/07/2009 08:55 14,891,760 ymsgr9uk.exe
25/11/2003 11:45 3,046,064 ymsgruk.exe

....but for one reason or another they either wont install or wont connect.

Question: Is there a vintage appropriate version I should be using, that will still connect and I can get the installer for (without resorting to those 'dodgy' sites on the Internet that will fill my poor little laptop with viruses) ?

Thanks.

Yeah Trillian is quite nice.

For ICQ you need at least version 6 to connect to the network since it was sold to the russians. I don't think you can get a normal Version 6 client to install under win95. No idea about Yahoo, but i guess it's similar (e.g. you need a halfway recent client)...
