Is it worth going from a Tandy 1000 SX to a SL?

I could see the issue with a reject, but are the Chinese knockoffs actually not functional chips as well? I'm not familiar with the "new" SID chips you're talking about. I ordered a NEC v30, speed unknown, from eCrater for $17, where there are some 10mhz V20's for sale as well. I don't know what sort of V30 I'll be getting, but I can vouch for the V20's as genuine, my Tandy 1000SX has an 8mHz one in it from the same seller as the 10mhz chips.

I do not feel that this is a problem generally with vintage ICs, only the (in)famous SID. Some people got the idea to do this and take advantage of that particular market.
