Not to completely hijack the thread, but I wanted to mention my thanks for posting your repair method for the Kaypro keyboard jack. I've got two different Kaypros that both have broken keyboard jacks and I really liked your repair. I had found your site on Google a while back.
I haven't done the repair you indicate, as I was lucky enough to find a similar jack to the original on eBay. I also found out that some of the old phones we were chucking at work used the same "slide in" 4P4C plastic jack so I snagged some of those prior to recycling the phones.
If those fail, my next step is your method.
