Is there any way to check installed memory in a 5150 using MS-DOS 3.30?
CHKDSK should show conventional memory

What leads you to presume that?
I've let the 5150 boot into BASIC. It gives 62x kb so I'm presuming it has 640 kb
Had great "fun" fiddling with the DIP switches on the 5150. Wasn't sure if I'd set them right.
