Multi Media Upgrade Kit

Is any one familiar with the Tandy Multi Media Upgrade Kit. I got one with the horde of Tandy gear I inherited. I installed it in my Tandy 2100 Model 10 and I don't think the CD 1000 Drive works. can I use any vintage CD Rom drive with the audio card.

I'm pretty sure the CDR-1000 has a Mitsumi interface, which is provided by the card. I used to have that combination in a 2500 RSX, and I'm pretty sure the card didn't work with much else beyond Mitsumi drives. Other drives used a Panasonic interface (my Creative Labs drive in the 4825 SX does), while still more were IDE. I don't think the Mitsumi card will work with those other interfaces.

Of course, it's been 25 years, so those brain cells could certainly be misfiring right now, but i hope that helps some.

There were a number of different CD interfaces in the early days. This seems to indicate it is a Mitsumi interface - https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?t=42809&p=412053
