I went down to my garage full of relics and dug out a IBM PS2 55sx. It would not boot to the hdd, I always landed in Basic, "Hello World". I then went back to my bone yard and yanked a hdd out of another PS2. I went from a little 40mb to a big old 60mb. This got me booting into a hdd. I loaded 6.22 and Win 3.1 . This worked pretty good but I still had to hit F1 to get past an error message that told me IBM was not "OK". I then went to the MCAMafia website and downloaded the utility diskette for this model. This utility forces the system to detect the system and configure the harware settings. This is most helpful because there is no BIOS set up acessable by the user. I still have to change the hdd cover so the hdd light is visible through the window instead of the cooling grill.
Now if I could just get 256 colors or find a good site for 16 color bmp's for wallpaper. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm
