I'm trying to get my head around using a smartport device with multiple partitions with a Apple //e.

I'm booting disk images that have bitsy-bye as a front end..
https://prodos8.com/bitsy-bye/

What I'm not figuring out is how to change to different partitions. Grabbing my prodos manual, most things in it seem to be done with the filer program.

Is there a basic command to switch between partitons? Can I launch the prodos on a secondary partition after I select it?

Thanks.

I assumed you meant in bitsy bye. All I can find to reference a switch is the following:

5.9 How do I switch drives/disks?

DOS 3.3 and also ProDOS allow you to specify which disk you want to
use by specifying its physical location when accessing it. This is
done with the slot-changing ',Sx' (1<=x<=7) and/or drive-changing
',Dy' (y=1 or y=2) parameters at the end of a command. Each slot may
have up to 2 drives connected to it. Slot 6 is normally used for 5.25"
drives, and slot 5 for 3.5" [or to a lesser degree, Slot 3 Drive 2 if
/RAM5 is used] disks, but system configurations may vary.

The slot/drive selections are 'sticky'-- they'll remain in effect
until you select another slot/drive to use.

Under ProDOS, you can also use the PREFIX command to change to a
slot/drive combination [PREFIX[,Sx][,Dy]] or to a volume by volume
name [PREFIX /volname].

Ok, can you give me an example of that?

I've got a drive image with the following partition names.

PRODOS332MG
TOTAL.REPLAY
GAMES
BOOTI
O32MB
H32MB
FE
CFFA

Booting the Profos332mg image, and then going to basic.system, I can use the prefix command to change directories (I.e. PREFIX GAMES or PREFIX UTIL puts me in the GAMES or UTIL directory in that partition)
But it gives error when I give it partition names..

Ill be honest. I have never used multiple partitions on any prodos system other than GS-OS. I have set it up on a Mac with the IIe card and I can toggle between the drives in bitsy bye. You mentioned Bitsy bye. Are you trying to navigate from Applesoft basic or bitsy bye?

If its Basic I can try out a few strings just not at the moment. I know Bitsy bye uses TAB to cycle through volumes (it should be volumes as opposed to drives, so if you have multiple on one device it should get them in order before moving to another drive)
