A Freak Looks At Fifty
Jimmy Buffett's making albums that sell on sight,
Sold-out concerts, ev'ry night.
But when I find myself at a Parrothead stage,
I will jump right up, and show my age.
Cauze I'm just a leftover hippie,
From back in da Sixties.
A burned-out, warshed-out
Tired ol' phart,
And a Parrothead wannabe!
But I can go to JazzFest &
See us all there,
Nothin' like we all used to be!
So now I'm at da concert,
And all I can see,
Is ten-thousand balding heads
In front of me!
Can't hear daCaptain over da crowd
Of twenty-thousand Buffett fanz
All singing out loud
All da Songs We Know By Heart!
But I'm still a leftover kewl-kat
From back in daDay.
When Owsley was daChemist,
Who took us away,
To daWorld that could never be!
So now I'm glad to be a leftover longhair
From daSummer of Love.
Sexual Revolution waz at it's peak,
And all that we could be waz Freaks!
