Dear All,
I own two dead harddrives, a RA73 and a RA70.
both work from the electronics side, they are recognized by the KDA50 controller.
The RA73 worked fine for a few hours after replacement of the dead tantalum caps but now immediately shows the red error led after startup. The RA70 shows the same behaviour.
Both drives main motor spin up, and the stepper seems to move according to the noise the drives make.
Is there any hope/suggestion how to proceed?
According to the KDA50 manual, there is a harddisk test and RA formatter on MDM field service tapes.
will this maybe help or is a red light from the front panel a clear sign of a hardware failure?
