Repairing C128

Hi everyone!
I just got my C128 running again after over 30 years and it runs. But I've encountered a problem that have me stumped.
When turned on, sometimes you can enter orders and sometimes you can't. Sometimes it is fixed with a simple reset, but on many occasions I have to turn it off for several seconds for it to work correctly again (Electrostatic problem?) Can someone give me some clue? Thanks and regards.

Hello, welcome to the VCF forum. Can you explain a little bit more about what you are doing? What do you mean by "enter orders"? Do you mean typing in a basic program?

Hello.
The problem appears with operating system commands. The first 2-3 commands don't cause problems, but if I type "clear" or "go64", sometimes it works and sometimes it just crashes. When you crash, a simple reset is not enough; you have to wait 2-3 minutes before it starts working again.

When you say it crashes, does it just hang up, or black out, or is there something on the screen?

On first blush this sounds like something's heating up somewhere and the 2-3 minute timeout is a cooldown period, but other things can look like that.

Have you tried turning it on while holding the Commodore key to see if it boots into C64 mode that way?
