I was contacted out-of-the-blue by a guy offering an Olivetti Prodest PC1, and he wanted it gone ASAP. His email said unless somebody collected it, it would go down the recycling centre (see: city dump).

The email was sent (blind) to more than just me, so I knew I had to get in there quick, and so responded straight away. I was travelling that day, and found that his location was between where I was, and home, so it meant I could collect it on the way through. The only catch.... I had to wait around in South-West London (with very little to do) for about 4 hours.

All I hoped (as the hours dragged by) was that the unit was in fully working condition. I was not disappointed. The floppy drive works 100%, and the monitor (although a bit on the dim side unless at 100% brightness) was good enough.

It's now back at my house, all cleaned up, a worthy addition to my collection.

What's the chances of finding an expansion unit for this thing......pretty slim I'm guessing.

Paul.

Hello, I don't know why I missed this thread. I am on the same mission, I also have a Prodest PC 1. Currently I am waiting for a batch of 10 ISA riser card boards fitting into the PC1. I already made an adapter vor video to support standard CGA monitors.

I am not on Facebook. I wonder how you get any ISA card working in the PC1 without a Riser card. The electric contacts of the slot at the right side are very deep inside the chassis, with all cards I tryed I didn't got contact. That's why I searched for riser card and found one. I ordered a packet of arround 10 in November for cheapest variant, it should soon...

I made it for faster exchange of info, but we maintain also a web site, here you can find useful info:

That riser is exactly what you need.
I made one with a 286 riser, cutting out some part to have a longer gold-fingers attach:
