Tandy 1000 SL "EEEEEEEEEEEEE" upon power on

So I received the Tandy 1000 SL I ordered on eBay a week ago. I let it acclimate to room temperature for two days, then turn it on. It beeps, queries the floppy drive, but instead of a memory readout, all I get is "EEEEEEEEEEEEEE", then I get a screen full of gibberish.

Has anyone encountered anything similar? Or did I spend another $40 for a trip to the junk yard again?

I think I'd try the usual remedies. First of all, reseat all of the socketed ICs, check the PSU outputs.

The symptoms sound similar to the EEPROM corruption Jeffrey Hayes experienced with his RLX system:

Perhaps the same "reset" will work for you as well.

That's what it displayed and how I sounded.

Unfortunately, nothing I could do would fix this, so it looks like it is off to the local dump with the machine.
