Does anyone know about how Tandy named/numbered prototype machines? Quite a long time back, I aquired a pre-production 1000HX. On hand written labels on the back and bottom of the machine it states it's a PP2 and then a serial number. If I remember correctly there is something on the mainboard as well, but I'd have to look at it again..it's been a while. Would that stand for something like "Pre-production run #2"?
BTW it's nice to see all the love for the 1000HX around here. Despite it being fairly limited, I did manage to run Telix and Quickbbs and other communications stuff on mine in the late 80's. I also toyed with adding an interenal hard disk to it using a ribbon cable to adapt the bus connector to standard ISA, and I spent many a night playing TGA compatible games such as Leisure Suit Larry and Gato!
