Here are disk images of the XENIX v3.3 upgrade with the NewPal checks and burst mode removed. I installed it on a stock 6 Mhz long board and ran extensive IO tests for a week with no issues.

A few months back I got the boottrack and z80ctl source building with ZAS under XENIX. Once that was all sorted out I removed the checks based upon what gp2000/pski did when they patched the XENIX 3.2 binaries back in 2017.

More or less I left most of the NewPal check in the boottrack as it's also used to test for the presence of the 68K processor (No68k) and removed the PAL only check from z80ctl as it was just a redundant check. Then everywhere burst mode was activated I prevented bit 0 of $DE from being set.

I did deviate from the standard XENIX 3.3 upgrade and replaced z80ctl with v135 rather than v133 as it has several Model 2000 keyboard fixes that didn't make it into the original upgrade.

Nice I'll try this out this weekend.

I did solve my short card dilemma, it was the WAIT mod (Capacitor, and a few other things). Left original R6 PAL in though. The Model II I got the card from had all Rev B boards and when I put it back in there everything tested out. Surprised me it was something that simple.

I've been looking at burning the PALs, but not sure I wanted to invest in it. This will probably kill that endeavor for me.

Thank you sir!

Working great!

Don’t have a 1000/2000 keyboard but was wondering if z80ctl can be modified to “translate” F2 or something to be ALT for the virtual console. Probably easier and less heavy handed to change getty I guess?

I haven’t gotten to the computer yet but I’ll dig around and see if they included the key map stuff.
