Good Evening (or whatever time of the day it is when you are reading this)

According to the HMM 00192 is a CMOS battery error/failure. I've replaced the battery with a brand new CR2032 (Energizer).

Upon a cold boot the system doesn't indicate the failure, it only indicates the failure during a warm reboot. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Daniel

Just spitting in the wind, heating up so that a broken track separates?

That would be unfortunate and almost impossible for someone like me to track down or even repair. The machine also has a quirky LCD backlight; it's not completely dead, it just seems to work when it wants to.

A cold boot doesn't mean that the machine is cold. It's a power switch off -- power switch on procedure as opposed to a three finger salute. If it misbehaves after cold booting when the machine has been running for a while it's got nothing to do with heating up.

Here's a couple of small software cold and warm boot programs to help determine what's really up. One is a cold boot and the other is a warm boot.

You'll need to rename the XXX.txt to XXX.com.

Run them and see what you get.

Code 192 for both. Odd.

Is there a lit LED underneath?

If so, you need to reset that by sliding a switch under there. See the User Guide if you have one.

Underneath the laptop, i.e. on the underside. It's a configuration error indicator that needs resetting if on. Just a vague memory from 760XDs and 600Xs.
