a good deal on User port connectors, 10/$15
just picked up a bag
other common places are price gouging you on this part.
I bought mine from Tim Harris of http;//SharewarePlus.blogspot.com Even with shipping from England, his connectors were similarly inexpensive.
Anyone know of a place that sells them in some form or another ?
Depends on what you are trying to enclose. What do you want to enclose?

I came across this on octopart, where I found where several places are price gouging

Then I found some at Memotronics by accident.
But I've noticed that Octopart is not all that perfect, they still miss a few websites.
Jim Brain has some on his website at a great deal too, but Octopart missed his website - even Memotronics.

Something similar, in the same ballpark, as the old C64 modems, that's all
So it doesn't block the other cassette port, in case somebody is using the uIEC
I'm starting to look thru Hammond, as they have a long history of providing a good selection of enclosures.

Oh, for my Sound Ultimate Xpander 6400 (SUX 6400) which connects at the user port, I used an ordinary cartridge casing from Tim Harris.

I bought the translucent casing,

P.S. By the way, Dan, I'm seriously thinking about another visit to VCF East in 2017. I will see you there again.

problem screams 3d printer, which I have

if anyone is handy with making 3d models of desired object Ill print it and mail it for price of postage

I dont have said object or I would be willing to make a model

oh hey, that looks reaaaaally interesting.
I see it makes use of the SID chip to playback the digitized audio, correct ?
Some day, it would be cool to add speech to my network game, SpaceCommand
Does it create a SID file, which I can run off the raster interrupt, just as with music files ?
Everything in this network game runs off the raster interrupt,
Between the network code, packets, and game code, everything needs to stay in sync

I bought the translucent casing,
I'm having a terrible time trying to navigate on his website to find that
I run across all different things on there
I saw your 6400 on there.
And I saw the cartridge port cases
but none of them look like User Port cases
did I miss the link somewhere ?

oh, then I better really get my network game finished by then :)

I work with cad as a hobby too, lately I started using Blender for my latest robot projects
If I don't find anything in the stores, I like to take your offer.
I'll have to dig out my C64 modem, use it as a guide and take some measurements

I had a modem for the C64 that was in a slightly-modified audio cassette case. They had cut one of the short ends to allow for the connector and had removed the little plastic pluses that hold the spindles/sprockets of the cassette. If this doesn't make sense, I can dig it out and take a picture. :)

Edit: To be clear, it was a clamshell cassette case made of relatively heavy-duty but still flexible plastic. It was not the more typical music artist audio cassette case that flips around made of hard/brittle plastic.

Yes, it does.
Does it create a SID file...
The software, Digimaster for the C64 and Digimaster for the C128), creates a DIFF file (think of Amiga IFF) which is compatible as a RAW file.

The SUX 6400 board is small enough to fit a cartridge case with user port connector sticking out of it.

oh ok, I havn't tried using a player for this yet
I'm still using SID files that run off the raster interrupt in my game

is it possible to run the DIFF file off the raster interrupt too
so it can play music or speech ?

My network game, just as other network games, run off the raster interrupt
Mainly to keep everything sync'd between the network packets and the rest of the game code
And so the SID music file runs off this too

Didn't find any info online yet for this
I'd like to find some more info
is there any docs that you have that explain this more online ?

I see now,
I checked with a cartridge case I have here, and there's plenty of clearance for it.
So you can still plug in the uIEC/SD into the cassette port[power]
I will have to ask him for prices then

I don't know about running DIFF's during the raster interrupt. All I know is that there is a conversion program on the Digimaster disk that can take a DIFF and change it so that the file be used in your own programs.
