This forum looks to be fairly stagnant, but in case anyone is listening and interested...

My Kaypro 2x/84 has been mostly unusable for quite awhile, but I recently did some work on creating a virtual H89 and so decided to extend that for the Kaypro. In case anyone else has been "jonesing" for Kaypro time, too, you can have a look at http://sims.durgadas.com/kaypro/kaypro.html. I have run several different models, and was able to collect some amount of software (from my own collection and the internet). I plan to convert more software to disk images as time permits.

Comments/contributions are welcome. Documentation is a little thin, so feel free to flame me and/or ask for help.

Have fun.
Doug

Doug,

i like the virtual kaypro. Looks like a real labor of love. It helped me study the behaviour of a undocumented rom i have. Did 'mavenize' it, and put it into packages to better understand it.

Groet,

I know this is an old thread, but I wanted to add my thanks for the great work, Doug. I have a Kaypro 4/84 that I Bought in 1984 just before heading out to graduate school. I still break it out ever year or so to run it which I think might help the capacitors stay in good shape. Never had any issues and the screen and drives are in perfect shape. Seeing your work got my to finally scan all my disks into .scp and .img files using GreaseWeazle for archiving. I copied that last 128 bits from your SS and DS images and pasted them with a HEX editor to the end of my .IMG files and they all work great with your emulator. I really appreciate your sharing. It would be nice to have a simple windows based program to convert .IMG to .LogDisk format, but it only took me about 5 minutes to convert all my disks using HexEdit. I just had to be careful to use the correct data for SS vs DS, but only made that mistake once.

I tried downloading the Virtual Kaypro and it runs fine as a Kaypro 4.

However, when I try using as a 10(E) with the recommended disk image, it shows the boot screen, flashes the HD and Floppy LEDs and then shows the boot screen again. Will not actually boot to the system.

Anyone have any ideas why this might be happening.

TIA!

Update: I finally realized the format.jar program converts .IMD and .TD0 to the proper .LOGDISK format. Doh!
