Wasn't sure where else to put this so here we go in General Off Topic. :D
For those of you unfamiliar with this amazing little chip, the Votrax SC-01-A was a phoneme synthesizer. It was made roughly around 1981.
Some more info on the company that made them.

And a video of one in use.

I've recently come into possession of two of these wonderful chips, or to be more precise two Votrax Sweet-Talker boards. Some of the components on the boards are damaged, but the main chips both look to be in good working order.
I have two projects in mind based on these little chips. I am wanting to try and run one off of my Arduino Diecimila. I would also love to write a software emulator at some point that would let me pass it either a string of phoneme codes or perhaps even text for it to parse. If it could then output audio as a wav it would be perfect.
Anywho this thread is for miscellaneous ramblings about retro speech synthesis in general, the SC-01-A in specific, or either of the above two projects. If you would like to lend a hand or have any pertinent info please let me know.
