Sometimes a good option for boards like this is a good cyce through the dishwasher. Back when I had my Mac Classic II working, I'd have to take the logic board out every so often and give it a thorough rinse in the dishwasher because the capacitors would leak. I would assume battery acid corrosion can also be cleaned this way.
Tell me about it. I picked up an IBM 5150 PC from a guy on Craigslist.
Don't usually think of batteries leaking on these older systems. Opened
it up and first saw the 16-64 KB motherboard (yeah) , then noticed a
small pile of white/green powder in the middle of the mobo, and right
above it one of those multifunction cards with a clock, and a dripping
NiCad battery. Fortunately was able to cleanup the mess and it didnt
do any permanent damage, PC still works.
